Solar Eclipse

This is a really interesting event where the Sun, Moon and Earth align and the Moon then blocks out light from the Sun. This can either be completely as in a Total Solar Eclipse or a smaller portion as in an Annular or a Partial Solar Eclipse.

On the 29th March 2025 there was a Partial Solar Eclipse that was visible in Birmingham. Several of the Societies members took Solar Telesopes to Centenary Square in the city centre so that members of the public could view the Eclipse safely. Additionally many of the society members took avantage of the clear sky to take images from home.

Here is a small selection from the many images that were obtained.
