Hello local astronomy / planetarium enthusiast
We still have tickets available for our upcoming one-performance-only of How Not To Be Afraid Of The Dark - a unique astronomy drama and poetry evening taking place at Thinktank Planetarium on Thursday 23rd September. You can find out more about the event, featuring Prof. Jocelyn Bell Burnell, here: www.thinktank.ac/poetry
As part of our event for the British Science Festival,'Life, the Universe and everything...'we will be incorporating sidewalk astronomy during the evening to celebrate 'International Observing the Moon night' to be held in honour of John Dobson's 95th birthday. Our event is on Saturday 18 September
THIS YEAR'S SPRING SKYWATCH AT LICKEY HILLS proved a little disappointing both in terms of weather and visitor numbers. Despite a sterling turnout by members and a planetarium show, attendance was fairly low although all three talks were well received with our ‘panel of experts’ question and answer session proving especially popular. Unfortunately, due to Birmingham City Council cuts, the future of some of the staff at the Centre is under threat; indeed, the existence of the venue, itself, might possibly be at risk. Let’s hope that we will be able to continue to enjoy this valuable amenity for a while longer yet….
